Grotowski's Statement of Principles is a clear elucidation of his early interests. In his book, THE EMPTY SPACE, Peter Brook writes of his theater as "a holy theater" and Grotowski's work owes much to catholicism even though it is a reaction against it. In MY DINNER WITH ANDRE, Andre Gregory describes a "beehive" exercise in whihc 100 people enter a room and...something happens. This is similar to the soul expedition planned in Shosha.

Here is a sweet short memoir of Grotowski's Objective Drama Project, which took place at UC Irvine. The apartment he lived in then was the one in which Dick and Pat Nixon had spent their honeymoon. This work
